Either way, the attested document then completes the attestation chain (the mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) before it is used in Pakistan. We guide you through the whole sequence.
No. The purchase can generally be completed remotely through a trusted attorney acting under your registered Power of Attorney — subject to DHA Karachi’s own transfer, biometric and membership requirements. Many clients complete without travelling; others choose to attend transfer day in person. Both routes are standard, and the choice is yours.
Through formal banking channels. Dollars route through formal banking channels into a Roshan Digital Account; for US persons, RDA onboarding may involve additional US reporting documentation with your bank, keeping the channel clean and compliant. A Roshan Digital Account is the recommended route because it keeps the purchase documented and, for property bought through the account, repatriable under the scheme’s rules — it is the designed channel for exactly this, not a legal requirement for every purchase.
The Roshan Digital Account is designed to let overseas Pakistanis repatriate their capital and profit on real estate bought through the account, under the State Bank’s rules, without prior State Bank approval. The specifics — documentation, limits and timelines — sit with your bank and the SBP, so we recommend confirming your own situation with your RDA bank. Proceeds from a purchase made outside the RDA are not automatically repatriable.
